Do you want to benefit from wireless
networking while maintaining a safe, secure and manageable network in your
organization? M-Gravity partners with Bluesocket to provide you with the
following unique solution features enabling you to meet these challenges:
Wireless Link Encryption
Protecting the privacy and integrity of your users’ data as it passes
through the air is of critical concern to organizations implementing WLANs.
Bluesocket provides the strongest level of encryption possible by
supporting IPSec and PPTP encrypted tunnels terminated directly on the
Wireless Gateway. Bluesocket supports many popular IPSec clients such as
Safenet, SSH, PGPNet and those "built-in" to Windows 2000 and
Windows XP operating systems.
Authentication
Enforcing who can access your network via the wireless LAN is a vital
component to any security policy. With the Bluesocket Wireless Gateway,
users can be authenticated via a built-in database or via existing central
authentication servers such as LDAP, RADIUS, Windows NT Domain and Active
Directory before they can access your network.
Additionally, Bluesocket has developed
a unique feature allowing Windows Domain users logging to be transparently
logged into the Bluesocket Wireless Gateway. This speeds deployment and
end-user acceptance, alleviating the need for extra passwords or end-user
training.
Role Based Access Control
Authenticating users is only the first step in managing your wireless LAN.
Bluesocket provides fine grained access controls to enforce what services
and destinations are available to each user. Via Bluesocket’s role based
access controls, IT Administrators can define resources (such as access to
the finance server, sales office, or shipping information), services (such
as HTTP, FTP, POP3) and controls to specific groups of users.
Class of Service (CoS)
Because WLANs share bandwidth, it is possible for users to "hog"
bandwidth and negatively impact overall network performance.
Bluesocket’s Wireless Gateway allows bandwidth to be allotted by role to
ensure that each group gets their fair share of the available bandwidth.
For example, visitors can be limited to 128 Kbps, while the engineering
department can be allowed 5 Mbps.
Secure Mobility™
As WLAN networks grow, users will need to roam between network subnets
without stopping to re-authenticate, but still need to maintain security.
Bluesocket’s patent pending technology enables both with Secure Mobility™.
With Bluesocket’s Secure Mobility™, users are free to roam across
subnets without interruption, even while maintaining a secure IPSec
tunnel.
RADIUS Accounting and Hotspot
Support
Bluesocket allows accounting of WLAN usage and the option for enterprises
to manage fee-based services to generate new sources of income "from
the air". Along with support of RADIUS accounting to track access and
usage statistics, the Wireless Gateway can also direct appropriate users
to secured "walled garden" access areas, via web pages
customizable to each location or customer. Thus, unregistered users can be
directed to a secured site to be granted free access or sign-up for
"pay for use" services online. Access controls are extensive and
granular – a major advantage over other products on the market that only
provide three choices: "on", "off", or
"secure."
Management
Ease of use is a key feature of the Bluesocket Wireless Gateway.
Configuration is achieved through an intuitive secure Web Interface,
allowing the flexibility to configure the device through any standard web
browser. Additionally, the Bluesocket Wireless Gateway supports SNMP,
allowing management via popular platforms such as HP Openview, CA
Unicenter, and Tivoli NetView.
Scalability
As your wireless LAN grows, Bluesocket’s Wireless Gateways can grow with
you. Through Bluesocket’s single component solution, increasing your
WLAN is as easy as adding gateways. Because all Bluesocket Wireless
Gateways are interoperable, they can be linked together, providing access
for hundreds or even thousands of users. Further, network availability is
ensured as all devices support the use of a 2nd gateway configured in for
hot fail-over mode.
